Autumn Break at SMK

The autumn break brings plenty of fun, creative, and philosophical activities for children in its wake. One Sunday in particular is devoted entirely to children, for on that day children quite literally take over the SMK. At other times the grown-ups can chill out at the SMK Friday event.

Children take over the SMK
On Sunday 13 October the SMK will be taken over by children – quite literally. Children will keep watch, ensuring that everything is in order; they will man the desks, conduct guided tours, and teach at the workshop – all as part of the KIDS CITY event from 10 to 17.

– an exhibition for children
Meet a robot with a TV in its belly and a fish called Helena. This critically acclaimed exhibition takes a range of distinctive works of art and the thinking of Danish philosopher Kierkegaard as the starting point for inviting children and grown-ups to reflect on the nature of freedom. Admission is free.Read about FREEDOM!

Draw, paint, and sculpt freedom
The Children’s Workshop is abuzz with freedom. Be inspired by the exhibition and create your own work of art based on the subject of freedom.

SMK Fridays
Begin your Friday night with drinks, art, street kitchen food, and intelligent discussion. On Friday 18 October we stay open until late and enter the night in an atmosphere where music, literature, and art meet and mingle. Graze on simple food in the Sculpture Street, listen to artist talks within the exhibitions, and enjoy music played by that evening’s artist-DJ. Admission is free. Experience SMK Fridays 18 October from 16 to 22

Flowers and World Views – last chance!
The autumn break is also the last chance to see the critically acclaimed exhibition Flowers and World Views. Guided tours are free, but visitors must buy a ticket to enter the exhibition.
