Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation and the Gallery
The Aage and Johanne Louis-Hansen Foundation will support the Royal Collection of Graphic Art at the National Gallery of Denmark over the coming years. It is, therefore, with much gratitude to the foundation that the Gallery can expand the Graphic Collection with two annual exhibitions from autumn 2013 to spring 2016. The exhibitions take their starting points in the Gallery’s research and presents art on paper across various periods in art history.
The Royal Collection of Graphic Art
The Royal Collection of Graphic Art is one of the oldest graphic collections in the world and can most likely be traced back to the 16th century. The collection consists of more than 240.000 works which ranges widely from older to the modern art, including contemporary works of art. With support from the Aage & Johanne Louis- Hansen Foundation, the Gallery is able to highlight the Graphic Collection for the next many years and allow visitors to experience the impact of the 700 years of art that the Collection holds.
