Kandinskyfonden at SMK
Kandinskyfonden aims to support exhibitions at Danish museums, primarily foreign artist exhibitions. Kandinskyfonden has supported exhibitions at the National Gallery of Denmark several times, and it is with great gratitude that the museum has been able to realize major and significant exhibitions, among others Matisse at the State Hermitage Museum in 1998, Strindberg. The Painter and the Photographer in 2001, Avantgarde in 2003, Turner and Time’s Perspective on Nature in 2005, and most recently Henri Matisse - Doubles and Variations in 2012.
Henri Matisse - Doubles and Variations
The Matisse exhibition in 2012 is about the process of examination with which Matisse was preoccupied his whole life, that is repeating the same motif with minute strategic variations. Matisse is especially known for his powerful paintings performed with an acute sense of the beauty of colour and lines.
