Flügger and the Gallery
Flügger, a chain of stores specialising in paint supplies, manufactures and sells more than 600 different Flügger paints in Denmark and abroad. Founded in 1783, Flügger has always taken pride in being the preferred supplier of professional painters and in creating high-quality products.
With colours and quality taking centre stage in everything they do, we are pleased to cooperate with Flügger on the exhibition Flowers and World Views.
In March of 2013 the SMK will present the exhibition Flowers and World Views. Taking the Gottorfer Codex – a four-volume album of flower paintings – as its point of departure the exhibition shows how 17th and 18th century artists translated flowers into images.
Flügger is one of the museum’s partners for the exhibition, and the museum is grateful to Flügger and our other partners for enabling us to present customised products inspired by the event.
Flügger and SMK
Drawing inspiration from the exhibition Flowers and World Views Flügger has collaborated with the SMK to create a new, beautiful wallpaper design that transplants motifs from 17th century flower paintings to contemporary interior decorating. The iris motif featured on the floral wallpaper comes from the Gottorfer Codex and is available from the Flügger shops and from the SMK bookshop. The exclusive, limited-edition wallpaper was designed by Elsa Krogh.
Flügger has also developed three unique shades of green for the walls of the exhibition rooms. The colours draw inspiration from the botanical paintings of the Gottorfer Codex, which is reflected in their names. The paints are available from the Flügger shops.
