Sorring Lervarefabrik and the Gallery
Sorring Lervarefabrik is an over 200 years old pottery studio with strong connections to the arts. The world famous painter Asger Jorn made pottery at Sorring Potteries workshop in the 50s. Today, in addition to classic earthenware, the factory sells no less than 46 different kinds of clay to schools, colleges, potters and others. We are therefore delighted that clay from Sorring has now found its way to the Danish National Gallery.
With Sorring Potteries’ sponsorship of 1000 kg clay per year to our Workshops, children receive not only part of a story, but also ample opportunity to get their hands directly into artistic material and express themselves creatively in the museum.
The Workshops at the Danish National Gallery today form the physical framework for a broad range of varied and professional quality services for children and youth who want to develop themselves through active and creative activities at the museum.
