Købke sketched out this image while sitting on a low stone wall by the lake adjacent to Østerbrogade. The largest building amongst the widely spaced architecture ahead of him was the country house Rosendal, which was the property of the merchant J. F. Tutein, grandfather of artist Lorenz Frølich.
