Egmont Foundation and the Gallery
The Egmont Foundation’s vision is a good life for all children and young people through active and dedicated participation in society. Focusing on the development of children and young people within physical, emotional, social, cultural and educational dimensions, the Egmont Foundation moved in 2007 to assist the National Gallery of Denmark through a donation of DKK 15 million to create the Egmont Knowledge Centre.
u.l.k Art Labs
The Egmont Knowledge Centre represented an intersection between the classroom, u.l.k.art labs and the art exhibition, and is therefore a combination of both communications- and knowledge centre. And it is therefore of determining importance for the centre to constantly rely on the newest research in arts communication.
The age group from 12-20 years
u.l.k. functions as an extension of the Children’s Museum of Art, which was also created on the foundation of a major donation from the Egmont foundation, and which throughout its 12 years has also been a wild success for the youngest museum guests. By way of the Egmont Knowledge Centre, the National Gallery of Denmark proudly presents a permanent platform for active learning and reflective education for a far greater target group of guests. The main user group includes children and young people in the age group from 12-20, where the centre facilitates special experiences and learning for the oldest level of primary school classes as well as the secondary school level.
