Knud Højgaard Foundation and the Gallery
Now, when the National Gallery of Denmark is able to invite its guests to concerts and musical events of the highest calibre, performed by renowned musicians with a view over Østre Anlæg, this is because, with support with the Knud Højgaard Foundation, the Gallery has acquired the largest grand piano available – a Fazioli.
The model F308 grand piano is the world’s largest concert piano, and possesses fantastic power. The aesthetic dimension concurs with the rest of the music, where both one’s hearing and vision are engaged.
Matisse - Doubles and Variations
Knud Højgaard Foundation has supported and participated in realizing the museum exhibition Henri Matisse - Doubles and Variations in 2012. The Matisse exhibition is about the process of examination with which Matisse was preoccupied his whole life, that is repeating the same motif with minute strategic variations. Matisse is especially known for his powerful paintings performed with an acute sense of the beauty of colour and lines.
Abildgaard – Open Studio
The Foundation has supported the 2011 exhibition Abildgaard – Open Studio. Here museum visitors could watch the restoration of three paintings by Nicolai Abildgaard. The three paintings usually hang in the Abildgaard Room at Christiansborg Palace and constitute the three surviving paintings from Nicolai Abildgaard's gargantuan labour for the Royal castle; an endeavour which was largely lost in the first fire at Christiansborg.
