Oak Foundation and the Gallery
The purpose of the Oak Foundation is to support the arts and culture in Denmark, with a special focus on the physical frameworks of cultural institutions. The foundation has made possible the exhibitions that the Royal Collection of Graphic Art will be presenting from 2010 to 2012.
The Royal Collection of Graphic Art includes more than 240,000 works: engravings, drawings, etchings, woodcuts, watercolours, lithographs and other forms of art on paper. Here you can find images created in our own time, but also reaching all the way back to the 15th century.
The National Gallery of Denmark is with the support from the Oak Foundation able to boost the visibility of the Royal Collection of Graphic Art via two exhibitions a year, rooted in the Gallery’s research and the rich collection of some 240,000 drawings, graphic works and photographs. The recurring exhibitions will thus offer a remarkable selection of the 700 years of art covered by the Royal Collection of Graphic Art, with the added perspective of significant domestic and foreign loan items.
