The Getty Foundation and the Gallery

The Getty Foundation supports the world’s cultural institutions through restoration and conservation. The Foundation has, among other things, supported the research and restoration of Jacob Jordaens' painting Tempelskatten [The Temple Treasure] at the National Gallery of Denmark.

SMK extend the lifetime of the art works
One of the most important tasks of the National Gallery of Denmark is to preserve art and extend the lifetime of the art works. This means that the Gallery curators both prevent and repair damage. This way, they ensure that the art work is presented to the public as effectively as possible.

Jacob Jordaens. The Temple Treasure.
Jacob Jordaens' Tempelskatten: Peter finder mønten i fiskens gab [The Temple Treasure, Peter Finding the Treasury Money] also known as Færgebåden til Antwerpen [Ferryboat to Antwerpen], dates from approximately 1623. The painting needed to be thoroughly examined, conserved and restored, all of which was carried out with support from the Getty Foundation in 2009.
In parallel with the curatorial work, the Gallery also carried out an art history research project on Færgebåden/The Ferryboat and the collection of Jacob Jordaens' works at the National Gallery of Denmark.
