Bering House of Flowers and the Gallery
The florist shop known as Bering House of Flowers opened in Købmagergade in central Copenhagen 1972. The founder, Erik Bering, and his partner Bjarne Als would subsequently work together on many high-profile assignments, e.g. for royalty in Denmark and abroad. In 2003 Bjarne Als was granted the warrant “By Appointment to the Royal Danish Court” and took over the shop after Erik Bering.
Bering House of Flowers is a florist’s shop of the very highest calibre, and we are pleased to have the establishment among our partners for the exhibition Flowers and World Views.
In March of 2013 the SMK presents the exhibition Flowers and World Views . Taking the Gottorfer Codex as its point of departure the exhibition will show how 17th and 18th century artists translated flowers into images.
Bering House of Flowers is one of the SMK’s partners for this exhibitions, and we are very grateful to Bering House of Flowers for enabling us to invite visitors to an exhibition that is all about flowers – in a very direct, physical sense too.
Bering House of Flowers and the SMK
Every week of the exhibition period the Bering House of Flowers will sponsor and supply fresh cut flowers for the Drawing Studio associated with the Flowers and World Views exhibitions at the SMK. In the Studio all museum visitors have the opportunity to draw and colour in their own flower pictures inspired by the striking exhibits and by real flowers suppliers to the studio.
