Erik Jørgensen and the Gallery
More than 50 years ago, when Erik Jørgensen built a little workshop in Svendborg, there was no doubt that new expressions would be anchored in his furniture production in respect for the great craft and a condition for work created in his name. He was ambitious and because of his Determination he successed in creating a funiture uphostering company with a group of skillful crafts men – in just a few years.

The spirit of Erik Jørgensen from 1954 is still the fundament for the furniture company and the expectation of high quaility is still a condition of the work. In the past decade, Erik Jørgensen’s furniture company has developed creative partnerships with a range of young expriementing designers. It is therefore, a pleasure for the Gallery to be able to collaborate with the furniture company. The simple designs coupled with Erik Jørgensen’s uncompromised expectations to quality and function will decorate the space at this summer’s special exhibition – Henri Matisse – doubles and variations.
