Nykredit and the Gallery
Nykredit and the Museum
Nykredit sees great potential in cultural initiatives and events that have a bearing on the construction sector, and in this context the SMK’s x-rummet venue offers innovative contributions to the realm of dynamic architecture. At the same time Nykredit is a strong player within the overall endeavours to promote and preserve contemporary art in Denmark. This is not just true at the SMK; the halls and corridors at the Nykredit offices are also adorned by some of the finest Danish art created in the 20th century Contemporary art is important to Nykredit.
Nykredit as main sponsor of x-rummet
During the period 2001 to 2013 the generous donations made by Nykredit allowed the SMK to welcome its visitors to the x-rummet venue – where “x” stands for the unknown. Through the years the x-rummet venue has challenged and explored conventional exhibition methods, transforming itself from one exhibition to the next.
Carrying out such work requires partnerships with artists of a special kind, so through the years x-rummet has continuously invited young, up-and-coming artists to create new works specifically for the x-rummet setting.
Platform for young contemporary artists
During the period 2001 to 2013 the objective of x-rummet was to provide young contemporary artists with a platform at Denmark’s national gallery. The art on display was very wide-ranging in scope, encompassing everything from painting and sculpture to photography, installation art, performance art, video art, and conceptual art.
