Match-SMK is a board game for children and families

The board game Match-SMK is specifically aimed at families with children between the ages of 6 to 10. The game is about telling good stories that take art as their starting point. You will find the board game in the permanent exhibition European Art 1300-1800.

A battle of art and storytelling
While seated in the long wooden furniture located in one of the largest rooms in the exhibition you can play a board game with your family. The game was developed specifically for families with children aged 6 to 10 years and is called Match-SMK. The game is about telling good stories that take art as their point of departure.

"Match-SMK" was created in co-operation with the games developers Tankespil. The furniture was designed by Anna Hedvig Braat and Pernille Jensen.

What is the game about?
The game consists of a lot of images that players match up against one of the large paintings on the walls; after this each player will tell a story about how the pictures are connected or fit together. There are no right or wrong answers, and that is the whole point of the game.

Of course each painting has its own story, but the objective of this game is to make children and adults present their own interpretation of what they see. And in fact we often see that the children are better storytellers than their parents,” says the managing director of Tankespil, Jeppe S. Christensen.

Rigtig god ide at lege historien ind.
