A sound work in the Museum's Sculpture Street
Susan Philipsz participates with the sound work Did I Dream You Dreamed About Me, which can be experienced in the Museum’s Sculpture Street and stage area during the period of the exhibition. The work is both an interpretation and a re-enactment of the song Song to the Siren written by the singer Tim Buckley in 1968.
A classic encounter
Philipsz sings a cappella in a very intimate and quiet voice, with a pure tone which is very catchy. The song describes a classic, fatal encounter between a sailor and a mermaid, and with it the work offers the possibility of having a special experience in the public space of the Museum.
Did I Dream You Dreamed About Me is a part of the re-enactment phenomenon.
