Out in the public space
We are currently in the process of putting all of Bjørn Nørgaard’s works in the public space on the map. We began our work in Denmark. We hope this will prompt you to open or follow a visit to the exhibition at the Gallery by visits to Bjørn Nørgaard’s art out in the public space.
It all began in Gladsaxe …
Bjørn Nørgaard first began creating works/commissions for the public space in 1979. The first of these was for the Gladsaxe Library; since then, the list of Nørgaard’s works in the public space is long and extensive. Bjørn Nørgaard’s best-known commission of this kind is the series of tapestries for the Great Hall at Christiansborg Palace, presented to Queen Margrethe II on the occasion of her 50th birthday in 1990.
