Forming New Images
This part of the exhibition focuses on photography’s formal repertoire and the artistic possibilities that manifest in the photographic process through use of tactics such as double exposure and replication. This has led to new and surprising image formations, where a reality other than the immediately visible is called forth.
Photography plays on a large register; in the 1980s art began to overtake and re-use previously existing images as a commentary on the extremely visual culture that typifies our modern age.
