Hammershøi is back
A large number of Hammershøi’s absolute masterpieces recently returned home to the National Gallery of Denmark, and for the first time ever the painting Interior. Artificial Light is also on display. The painting is a very recent acquisition, meaning that it has never been exhibited at the Gallery before.
Ever since the end of the run of the Gallery’s major spring exhibition Hammershøi and Europe, the paintings of Hammershøi have been absent from the Gallery. The entire exhibition travelled to the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung in Munich, but now the Hammershøi paintings are back in Copenhagen and on display in Room 228.
