SMK Fridays feat. Frost Festival – Closer

Date: 19. feb. 2016
Time: 16:00 - 22:00
Price: Free

Get closer and get in on the action as we join forces with Frost Festival for this year’s first SMK Fridays event. This evening you can explore the SMK’s new special exhibition Closer – Intimacies in art, and you can even discover new aspects of intimacy in art with someone you’ve never met before. The evening will include a concert surrounded by art, and you will also find video art, social experiments and a dash of sex magic.

Feelings, moods and emotions
What do feelings, emotions and moods look like when depicted in art? And how can art portray intimacy and private relationships between people? The director of the SMK, Mikkel Bogh, examines these questions in the exhibition Closer – Intimacies in art. This evening, you can watch Mikkel Bogh in conversation with the curator and art critic Mathias Kryger.

A social experiment
You can visit our new special exhibition until nine o’clock this evening – and you can even explore it in the company of someone you have never met before. At the entrance to the exhibition, Nadja Pass – from the social community laboratory Borgerlyst and one of the driving forces behind the Samtalesalon (Conservation Salon) initiative – will link you up with one of the other guests and present you with a conversation menu. The menu will bring you closer to the works. And to each other.

You can also join artist and SMK art educator Annette Skov as she goes in search of intimacies at the museum. Together, we will try to discover where things are hottest, where you can get really close, and more.

Concert featuring Synd og Skam
In collaboration with Frost Festival we have invited the band Synd og Skam to perform for us – a band which is well known for their uncompromising artistic and musical U-turns and breaks with conventions. Synd og Skam will spend the week leading up to this Friday night to prepare a concert composed for and in one of the museum’s large exhibition spaces.

This evening you can witness the end result: an event customised for the SMK, up close and right in the middle of all the art.

Art Talks, video art and artist DJ
Over the course of the evening you can join our art educators for a range of Art Talks that zoom in on the museum’s most intimate works of art.

In the Sculpture Street you can enjoy art, food and drinks as this evening’s artist DJs – the artist group Squash Club – spin their records from eight to ten. The Stage will feature screenings of video works by Jesper Just and Lea Porsager.
