The Sketching Room

Come and practice your drawing skills in the SMK Sketching Room, where twelve plaster sculptures from The Royal Cast Collection pose for all drawing enthusiasts who might want to portray them. Two men wrestling, a discus thrower and a huge finger are some of the motifs that you can commit to paper with the materials provided.

The Sketching Room is beautifully situated: it offers views of the Østre Anlæg park and a space that is filled with light and air thanks to the large windows and soaring ceilings. You're welcome to bring your own pencils, but we provide drawing boards, paper and pencils for you to use.

Join a drawing workshop at SMK
If you would like to learn how to draw or to improve your skills even more, you can join us for drawing workshops at SMK this autumn. Bring your family, friends or partner along and get cracking: you will have the opportunity to draw fruit bowls, nudes – even live chickens. You don’t need to be able to draw to attend; you will get plenty of good advice and technical tips along the way from one of SMK’s resident artists.

Choose your own course
The events will take place on selected SMK Wednesdays, beginning at either 17.00, 18.00 or 19.00. You decide which of the courses you want to attend. It all takes place at the Stage at SMK – and you decide whether you want to draw at a desk or while lounging in a beanbag chair.
