Gitte Villesen

A documentary story
This video work is a documentary story about Willy, the main character’s relationship to his record collection. The video lasts nine minutes and records an open-hearted meeting between Willy and Gitte Villesen herself. The dialogue is about the records which Willy chooses from his collection and plays for her. Each song and record wakens a memory which is recalled and retold by Willy, albeit unsystematically.

Willy's reality
Willy’s reality is Willy’s life. He not only shows us records, he also shows us himself. But the artist Gitte Villesen shows herself, too. She transposes Willy’s reality to art about reality. The video work is neither an in-depth documentary nor a superficial home movie. It is in fact an investigation into how we construct reality.
