This work consists of a fragment of a wooden statue of a saint placed in a travelling bag. The original sculpture is medieval in origin and was purchased by Danh Vo from an antiques shop in Amsterdam. The artist subsequently cut up the sculpture into thick slices, placing the fragments in a range of suitcases and bags. The sculpture points to many of the themes that command Danh Vo’s attention, including the (Catholic) adoration and functional standardisation that characterises our existence today.
