About Tacita Dean
Tacita Dean is British, lives and works in Berlin, and prints her captivating series of images at a specialist printer’s in Amager, a suburb of Copenhagen.
Tacita Dean (b.1965) is best known for her work with analogue 16mm and 35mm art films. Concurrently with this work she has worked with prints, developing a particular love for the photogravure technique.
Dean uses photogravure to transfer photographs to plates used for intaglio printing, which gives the images a distinctive tactile quality. In 2001 she began her co-operation with the specialist printer kobbertrykker Niels Borch Jensen in Copenhagen. The graphic series featured in the exhibition were printed by him.
