A Room Defined by its Accessibility
The exhibition "A Room Defined by its Accessibility" by Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset was shown 23 June - 9 September 2001
The Danish-Norwegian artist duo Michael Elmgreen (b. 1961) and Ingar Dragset (b. 1969) have been working together since 1995 and produced works in an ongoing series, entitled Powerless Structures. “A Room Defined by its Accessibility” is created especially for the exhibition in x-rummet and consisted of three new works. Elmgreen and Dragset suspend the distinction between traditionally distinct media and mix architecture, sculpture and at times performance.
The works in the exhibition "A Room Defined by its Accessibility" are rooms, rather parts of a room, or references to a room, which never materialise as conventional architectural structures. They are works in which the rooms are not defined by their functional and architectonic qualities, but on the other hand by their accessibility.
