Great art for your summer holidays
The summer holidays equal plenty of time to enjoy great art. Experience 700 years of art from Renaissance masterpieces in the collections to cutting-edge gender politics. Families can go for a summer safari in our special exhibition for children and try their hands at making great art themselves in our workshop.
New exhibition: Abandon the Parents
Henrik Olesen incorporates modern gender politics in his new exhibition in x-rummet, which looks at the process of liberation that may, or may not, take place when we leave our parents behind in our search for a new set of values. Free admission.
700 years of art - and free tours
Did you know that the SMK is home to more than 700 years of art? Take a little time out of your summer holiday to explore e.g. the early Renaissance, French masters, or 1970s performance art. Free admission.
You can explore the museum's main highlights on a guided tour that takes you through the fascinating history of art. The tour is free and in English. The tours are available every sunday in the Summer Holidays at 3 pm.
Have fun in the coolest children’s workshop in town
During the summer holidays we focus on a new theme every week. Join us when we build fearsome monsters and brightly coloured dragons during our “Fantasy” week. Or make a portrait of yourself or your best friend when we turn our attention to portraits. Admission: DKK 45 per participant.
About activities at the Children’s Workshop
The exhibition FREEDOM! takes an in-depth look at the many forms that freedom can take and asks “What does freedom mean to you?”. Meet a 3-metre robot with a telly in its belly and get up close to a famous blender with live fish inside. Free admission.
