SMK preserves the art

SMK is currently installing a new, environmentally friendly climate control system that will help us preserve the museum’s art for posterity. As the construction work proceeds we will need to close some of our exhibition rooms for specific periods of time. Instead, you can explore highlights from the usual displays in three new FOCUS ON displays.

Storing art requires excellent air quality and a superior indoor climate. To ensure this, SMK has launched a major overhaul of the museum’s technical installations in 2017. This will ensure that our art can continue to be stored under optimum conditions – all while addressing environmental concerns.

The construction work might cause some noise and construction mess in the wardrobe and in the Sculpture Street. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I 2017 some of our exhibition rooms will be temporarily closed for specific periods of time:

(Closed April - September)

EUROPEAN ART 1300-1900
(Closed August - December)

Instead, you can explore a selection of SMK highlights in three new FOCUS ON exhibitions.
